Miller and O’Reilly Discuss Media Coverage of Barack, Hillary ...
The host and his comedian guest Dennis Miller discussed a wide range of media topics including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, and, believe it or not, Britney Spears. This was one of their more entertaining segments, as Dennis was in rare form, as was Bill (video available here courtesy of our friend Ms Underestimated). First on the agenda was Barack Obama keeping the press out of his fundraiser in Hollywood. This was Miller's take: I think we've moved the training schedule up by around eight months. And that he's playing it smart right now…I don't think he can take the Elvis thing, which is a great analogy, into the barn, but let's face facts. This usually starts 12 months out. We're starting 17 months out. If I was him I would rope a dope like that the next five months.
Senators to blame
In your recent editorial you say that the Bush administration is the reason that Phil Green's appointment to U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Illinois has been stymied. Actually, if you look over the record, the administration made the nomination back in June and Congress, especially our do-nothing senators, slowed the process. The reason is simple: Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin and Barack Obama want to prevent a Republican-appointed U.S. attorney from occupying that position. They will drag this appointment out until there is a change in the presidency. They will then offer candidates from their list of donors and supporters. Many of the Bush appointments have gone by the wayside or have been dragged out for years. That's not because of the Office of the President.
Muslim Congressman Endorses Obama — Let The Attacks Begin
The wingers will really go nuts over this one: Barack Obama has just received the endorsement of Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison, the Associated Press reports. Ellison tells the AP that he's backing Obama because "he speaks with a unifying spirit." As if it weren't bad enough that Obama has the middle name "Hussein" and a last name that rhymes with "Osama," he's now also picked up the support of the country's first Muslim Congressman — one who has already been the target of a relentless assault from the right. It'll be interesting to see how conservative commentators react to this one. .
