| Miller and O’Reilly Discuss Media Coverage of Barack, Hillary ...
The host and his comedian guest Dennis Miller discussed a wide range of media topics including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, and, believe it or not, Britney Spears. This was one of their more entertaining segments, as Dennis was in rare form, as was Bill (video available here courtesy of our friend Ms Underestimated). First on the agenda was Barack Obama keeping the press out of his fundraiser in Hollywood. This was Miller's take: I think we've moved the training schedule up by around eight months. And that he's playing it smart right now…I don't think he can take the Elvis thing, which is a great analogy, into the barn, but let's face facts. This usually starts 12 months out. We're starting 17 months out. If I was him I would rope a dope like that the next five months.
Obama Takes First Step in Presidential Bid
WASHINGTON - Democratic Senator Barack Obama of Illinois says he's taking the initial step in a bid that could make him the nation's first black president. Obama announced his intentions to file a presidential exploratory committee today on his Web site, www.barackobama.com. In a video posting on the site, Obama says he didn't expect to find himself in this position a year ago. He says he's been struck by how hungry people are for a different kind of politics. The Democrat says the decisions that have been made in the past six years have put the country in a "precarious place." Obama says he'll announce more about his plans in his hometown of Chicago on February 10th. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) .
Version 2.0 of the Barack Obama Web site ready for prime time
When I checked in on the campaign Web sites of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama a few weeks back, it was before the latter had announced he was in it definitely for sure, an event of small surprise and large coverage that took place in Springfield over the weekend. Now Obama has replaced the placeholder Web site he had up with one that aims to take full advantage of what is known as Web 2.0, the social, interactive, multimedia Web that brings us everything from YouTube video sharing to virtual societies. Its structure should allow the site to fully harness Web enthusiasm without the problems of direct association that resulted in two bloggers whose writings were controversial leaving the employ of the John Edwards campaign this week. The updated barackobama.com is richer than its predecessor in all the expected ways: cleaner design, a fancy O-based logo (above; anything to say about that, Oprah?), a T-shirt shop (for the slightly cloying price of $20.08 each), links to selected news stories, extensive issues areas, video (BarackTV), and a campaign blog.
Barack Obama Disses the Press
Big Hollywood fundraiser for Senator Barack Obama last night [Tuesday, Feb. 20]. Jennifer Aniston, Eddie Murphy, Natalie Maines, hundreds of others forked over $2,300 to support Obama's presidential run. As I mentioned last night, I tried to buy a ticket! I had my money out! But Obama's people said no. No way, no how is O'Reilly getting in. So I sent my guys, led by producer Ron Mitchell, to check things out. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hi. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, hi, I work for the Bill O'Reilly. And we tried to buy a ticket to the event. And they wouldn't sell us one. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is not a press event. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, no, I understand. We tried to buy the ticket. They wouldn't sell us one.
